On this page

Chinese chess 2 player

Two people. One screen. Red moves, you hand the phone or slide the laptop, black answers. That is what 2 player means on this page: same device, not a waiting room with strangers.

If you typed chinese chess online 2 player looking for a couch game, you’re at the right table. No AI on this seat. No room codes.

When

When to use

Friend on the couch. Classroom desk. Cafe table. You searched “2 player” or “two player” and do not want accounts or matchmaking.

When not

When not to

Hunting ranked strangers online — we don’t host that. Want a computer opponent — vs computer. Still learning the river — how to play.

Defaults

Assumptions

Standard Xiangqi rules. Red opens. Offer draw means both of you agree. Resign ends for the side to move. Computer win/loss Record does not bump here.

Steps

How

  1. Confirm the badge says pass and play — one screen, no AI.
  2. Red taps a piece, then a legal intersection.
  3. Hand the device. Black answers. Keep going until checkmate, 困毙, draw, or resign.

Worked notes

Examples

  • You searched “2 player online” expecting strangers → this URL still means pass-and-play on one glass
  • Someone sits down mid-lunch → open this page and take turns — no signup wall

Watch-outs

Gotchas

  • 2 player ≠ lobby multiplayer.
  • Undo steps back one ply, not a full AI round.
  • Thin “2 player” clones sometimes still force ads before a move; this board should be live once you start.

Local

Why a separate URL for 2 player

People type “2 player” like a mission. Missions deserve a door already locked to that mode — not a homepage dropdown that defaults to AI. Home still starts vs computer; this page starts human vs human on one screen.

Want the engine back? Open against computer. Want rules without a duel? How to play.

Etiquette

Draw, resign, and whose move

Status says Red to move or Black to move. Agree draw is mutual — nobody’s AI declines. Resign ends for the side whose turn it is, so don’t poke Resign on your friend’s clock unless they ask.

Hint still suggests a legal reply for the side to move if you both want a coach whisper. Flip board if seats feel backwards.

Controls

Board controls

No strength dial. No Play as. New game clears the fight. Undo steps one ply. Hint helps the side to move. Agree draw is mutual. Resign ends for the current side.

FAQ

Is this online multiplayer?
No. Same device only. No lobby, no room codes, no stranger match.
Can the computer play one side?
Not on this URL. Use chinese-chess-vs-computer for that.
Who moves first?
Red, as usual at a park table.
Why a separate URL?
So a “2 player” search lands on a board already in that mode.
Does Record count here?
Win/loss against the local AI does not bump on this seat. Clocks still tick for the game in front of you.
